our annual cleveland trip

To kick off Adam's Cyclocross Season we always start at NEO CYCLE at Edgewater Park in Cleveland. It's named The Nation's Largest Urban Cycling Festival. This event not only has races and rides, it has food trucks, music, local bike shops and other vendors, giant board games, miniature golf, dog dock jumping competition, and of course BEER! This year it wasn't as sunny but rain or shine, they'll still ride. I didn't get any photos but check out Neo Cycle's Facebook Page for all the info and pics like this below by Cody York Photography.

A few weeks ago we took half days off of work and drove from Cincy to Columbus, grabbed Tyler and Pritha, and finally to downtown Cleveland. I booked us at Aloft Cleveland Downtown right by the lake. The parking situation wasn't the greatest but we were in walking distance to a lot of restaurants, breweries, and of course not too far from the race course. It was a perfect September night for a nice little walk to Camino Mexican Restaurant only a block away. They had delicious tacos and yummy margaritas for dinner, then we went back to the hotel bar for a few beers and hung out on the patio. We didn't stay out too late though since the boys had early races.

The next morning we went straight to Edgewater Park for the NEO Cycle Event and spent the rest of the day hanging out. Since we didn't eat breakfast Pritha and I got a little hungry and bought baskets of fries from one of the food trucks while we watched the races. Unfortunately Adam's bike had a mechanical issue and couldn't finish. Tyler had a great race and placed 5th in his catergory. Afterwards we packed up the bikes, the boys' changed, and we drove up further in the park to take pictures by the Cleveland sign before going to Market Garden Brewery. I was still a little full from the fries so I only ordered a ceasar salad while Adam ordered scotch eggs. Tyler and Pritha got a pretzel with beer cheese and beer mustard and baked mac and cheese that smelled sooo good. As for dessert, my favorite part of Cleveland, and a MUST is Mitchell's Homemade Ice Cream!!!!! They serve sorbet, yogurt, vegan, and no-sugar added. They have multiple locations but this one was only a short walk away and is the best one of them all. They have windows/glass walls to be able to show you how they make their ice cream and a cute little toy train that runs around a track hanging from the ceiling! But the ice cream... Vegan Chocolate is Adam and I's favorite. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend going there. I hope you guys enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed being there :) Until next year Cleveland!
