Cincinnati Union Terminal: The Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center

I've started a Cincy to do list this summer and we haven't even begun to scratch the surface on what this city has to offer. First on my list was the Cincinnati Museum Center which has SEVERAL attractions to visit, that we unfortunately didn't account enough time for :(. I was although fortunate enough to have been invited to the Upstander Awards held at The Nancy and David Wolf Holocaust and Humanity Center. The Upstander Awards recognizes individuals in the region who use their character strengths to make a difference in the community. It's in Union Terminal’s breath-taking rotunda with live music, art experiences, and a moving awards ceremony celebrating Cincinnati’s best and brightest upstanders. Cincinnati’s historic Union Terminal is where many Holocaust survivors arrived by train to rebuild their lives. It's a learning environment with stories of Holocaust survivors through carefully curated artifacts, documents, interactive survivor testimonies, and films. The museum has three permanent exhibits where you can learn about the past, talk to survivors in real-time, and activate your own character strengths to make your mark for a brighter future.

HOLOCAUST GALLERY

This exhibit includes genuine artifacts, remarkable photographs and documents that illustrate the unique perspectives of local Holocaust survivors and how they viewed themselves, as well as the difficulties they faced in surviving the war and rebuilding their lives in Cincinnati.

DIMENSIONS IN TESTIMONY Interaction with eye witnesses, survivors, and liberators in one-on-one conversation. High-definition holographic interview recordings pair with voice recognition technology to enable responses to questions asked in real-time. The video kiosks has personal testimonies located throughout the exhibition tell heart-breaking experiences of hatred, persecution, perseverance, love, and rescue.

HUMANITY GALLERY

Holocaust survivor Werner Coppel's experience who believed it was "never about the shock of the story,” but about “standing up against prejudice and indifference.” Here you'll also find six interactive upstander learning zones, each one telling the inspiring story of positive action leading to change.
