a day in yellow springs

For about a year now Adam, our best friend Tyler, and I have been spending some of our weekends in Yellow Springs. Its about a 45 minute drive from where we live. Its west of Fairborn and north of Xenia. Some of you might know a bit about it but we call it hippie town haha. The streets are lined with an assortment of more than 75 shops!, galleries, restaurants and pubs. Some enjoy the public art all over town, movies, theatres, and festivals. We usually drive there early morning, eat breakfast, walk around a bit and then ride our bicycles. After a couple of hours on the bike, we come back to town, have lunch or dinner, dessert, or hang out at the brewery before heading home. The best part of it all... everything is all locally made or grown!!!

We change it up every time we go but here is what we did yesterday. The guys went on a training ride from Tyler's house (about 40 miles) and I drove and met them there. I wasn't up to riding in this crummy weather. While I waited for them, I walked around and took a couple of shots (see below). Since this time around we came a bit later I just made a reservation to one of our favorite restaurants Winds Cafe for dinner.

Drinks- water, iced green tea, if any of you know Tyler, he got alcohol after his ride of course... a pinot haha.

Appetizer- Tomato Bruschetta.

Tyler dinner- Piri Piri Quail. The quail is marinated, grilled and served with a piquant and spicy jalapeño sauce. (HILARIOUS shot of this below)

Adam dinner- Braised Green Chili Pork Tacos. Three tacos are stuffed with tender pork shoulder braised with tomatillos, Anaheim, jalapeño and chipotle chilis. Topped with cheddar, lime slaw, avocado and a spicy red sauce.

My dinner- AMAZING Farmers Market Bison Burger. Served on a brioche bun with tomato jam, creamy citrus slaw and Blue Jacket Silver Lake Chèvre Boursin. Served with herbed fries.

The restaurant also makes their own wine and supports local artists and showcases their work to sell. The drinks/food, the staff and atmosphere is the best. It's a great way to spend your day, and you will definitely want to come back.

Too full from dinner, we decided to just head to Dino's (our quick coffee spot) to grab coffee for the ride home.
